In addition, they “have to deal with whether or not to come out to their religious family”
Umm, I don't think there is a "or not" to this situation. I think they are pretty much "out" now.

i saw this online this evening... .
logo will air a series this fall that follows musicians (and twin brothers) jacob and joshua miller of the pop/rock group nemesis, according to broadcasting & cable.
but jacob & joshua: nemesis rising has even more drama in its premise: the brothers are gay and were raised as jehovahs witnesses, and now they live together with jacobs boyfriend in one apartment.

what a day.
i was out gallavanting around - buying one thing here another there and finally heading home.. the chair hit a bump and the front wheel broke off sending me flying with the chair landing on top of me.
personally i think it was a temper tantrum designed to let me know they were tired and wanted to ride me for a while.. i had just passed a man sitting on a bench waiting for the bus and he rushed right over to help.
Glad to hear nothing was broken and you are home safe and relatively sound!

they have been broacasting tornado watches for the area just west of torinto - right where halton hills (part of canadian bethel).
there are also watches for the ontario panhandle which is the area where grace/mouthy is and a few other posters here.. i wouldn't mind if bethel disappear but hope no gets hurt.
take care all you folks down in that area.
Quite a light and sound show last night! Went outside this morning and I have to restake my tomato plants and clean up a few branches and leaves but that's about it.
On a positive side, my water barrels are all full again!! YEAH!!!

to name a few that are popular with my old congregation.... .
dunkin' donuts.
quik chek.
The cong I attended until about 16 was rural. We usually didn't get a coffee break because it was so far to drive to a resturant. If we were in town one family I went out with always wanted to stop at the local Chinese resturant. Why - I don't know! They were English and always complained about the tea. When it was just us younger ones there was one resturant on the hwy that we always had to stop at - Teddy's. The one brother we worked with always had to have fries with gravy and a chocolat milkshake.
When we moved into town there were no Tim Hortons at that time. We usually went to McDonalds or to Clubhouse Donuts.
Then we moved again, more rural territory. About the only place was the Texas Resturant. It was a gross place that always seemed dirty (served alot of truckers). I'd rather not have stopped for a break! YUCK.

as most informed jehovah's witnesses know, the wtbts is very good at painting a pretty picture of themselves by cleverly wording things to outsiders, yet not revealing the specifics of their beliefs.. below is an example from their official website regarding whether or not they shun members who choose to leave them.
they do not tell the public of the interogation they impose on members who wish to quietly leave ( fade ).. notice they mention how they are more than happy to restore those who exit, but fail to mention the types of questions they ask to those who leave them.. while they admit they shun those who verbally express they no longer wish to be a jehovahs witness, they do not tell the public they coerce that very statement from those who try to leave peacefully and quietly.

BB, good evening.he was 16 at the time, overcome with guilt and was repentant. If he didn't go to the elders they would have never known what he did. He was df'd. There was no effort made to help him.How could your brother be repentant and be DF?
Juni
Juni, I think the elders were on a witch hunt. There were alot of comments going around that "Jehovah's spirit is not in the KH". The local needs talks all centered around coming clean etc. There were several df'ings in that KH, my brother being the first. My parents fought tooth and nail to just be allowed in the JC (he was a minor). Also, my brother knew what alot of the other kids in the hall were up to and he was really pressured to "tattle". He kept telling them he wasn't ratting out anyone. When one elder was putting on the pressure my brother told him what his daughter was up to when daddy wasn't looking. He didn't like hearing that. I think the main reason was to keep him quiet. This was before the internet was everywhere, before we knew about the Flock book. His dfing wasn't totally bad. While df'd he met his now wife (not a JW at the time), and they have two beautiful children.

Many of you said you were asked by the elders 'who you were asscociating with', and did you believe this was God's org' etc.My question is.....did they have A REASON for asking you this ....such as seeing you doing something anti-dublike, or hanging with wordly people.....OR did they just ask this out of the blue?
When hubby and I were asked questions about the "org" it was totally out of the blue. An elder and a MS in training stopped by one afternoon. This elder is our age, thought he was a good guy (now we know he's totally an "org" man). When I asked why he was asking us these questions he said that there were "apostates" right in our own territory, and they had kids too!!! **gasp**
We hadn't been seen doing anything or associating with df'd or "worldly" people. We were just doing the fade.
Every effort is made to help wrongdoers. But if they are unrepentant, the congregation needs to be protected from their influence.
This statement is false! My brother went to the elders and confessed his wrongdoing. Nobody else in the hall knew about what he did (the girl was non JW), he was 16 at the time, overcome with guilt and was repentant. If he didn't go to the elders they would have never known what he did. He was df'd. There was no effort made to help him.
Just goes to show you you can't trust what's on the internet!! ;-)

we have been busy getting things started since then, hence the slight delay in posting our news.
we aren't in a particular hurry, as we have no desire to have children.
What wonderful news!! I was friends with my now hubby 5 years before we started dating, he truly is my best friend!!

for the past 24 hours ive had an ear ach in my right ear.
my hearing is muffled and its starting to throb now.
last saturday i went swimming in a lake and at first thought i had a case of swimmers ear.
You can take this for what it is worth.
I watched a program on TV a couple of weeks ago. A RN was talking about home remedies for summer problems. She said the difference between an ear infection and swimmers ear - with swimmers ear the outside of the ear itself will be very painful to the touch, you don't usually get that with an ear infection.
If it is swimmers ear you can mix equal parts vinegar and rubbing alcohol and put a few drops in the ear. The rubbing alcohol will dry up the water and the vinegar is antibacterial.
When I've had water in my ear from swimming that doesn't drain on its own I have uesed a few drops of rubbing alcohol, but that was before I had any problems such as what you are experiencing.

i attended my mother's memorial at the kingdom hall saturday afternoon.
even with the jw sermon tagged on, my cousin did a lovely service for her.
there were many jws and non-jws in attendence.
I'm speechless!
I have never heard anything so cruel. It was YOUR mother that passed, so it should not have been considered a "congregational". The congregation, if they were truly Chrisitan, should have welcomed you with open arms and offered you comfort and support. At the very least, have seperated themselves from the family gathering if they felt that way. It should not have been up to you to opt out of the gathering.
Sick, sick, sick!!!
I'm so sorry to hear of your mother passing. ((((((((Merry))))))))
